*One of those good days

[Jacket: Zara (similar ones here and here), Tank: J.Crew (similar), Pants: F21 (similar), Shoes: BCBG (on sale here!), Watch: Guess, Belt: Gap (similar)]

Today has been one of those good days.

One of those good days when you wake up early and surprisingly, are not tired.
One of those good days when class gets out early.
One of those good days when a caramel mocha makes you the happiest person alive.
One of those good days when your favorite spot in the library is open, beckoning you to get comfy and start studying.
One of those good days when a rainy day isn’t depressing, but calming.
One of those good days when time wasted with friends is actually time well spent.
One of those good days when you stop stressing about all the little things and realize how lucky you really are to have such a good life.

*Nothing Much to Say

Friends - I apologize for my lack of creative juice this evening. I'm pretty wiped out after a day of homework and sorority business. I hope you all had wonderful weekends and you are ready to start this week! This is my LAST full week as a freshman at Elon...I'm a little sad, a little happy and a lot excited for no more homework!!!
And that is the extent to which I can think right now. Goodnight world.

*A Short Story

[Jacket: F21, Necklace: Macy's (cute one here) Top: F21, Shorts: Gap, Shoes: Banana Republic (love the style here)]

I thought I would get a little creative today and wear a pseudo short suit . . . they have been popping up all over the runway (also, Alexa Chung rocks the look here) and I thought I could take the risk of looking like a giant cherry-flavored popsicle and wear this! It's actually just my Gap shorts (last seen here) and red blazer from Forever 21 (last seen here). The shades matched almost perfectly!
I love wearing my leopard-print shoes with red. I think it's the perfect color/print combination. Plus the heels are super comfy.

Looking forward to a weekend of fun with my suite mates - it's so sad thinking this is our second-to-last week living together. Time is flying by!

*A Flair for Hair

[Scarf: Gift (cute ones here and here), Top: F21, Jeans: Gap (similar), Shoes: Macy's (similar)]

There are a lot of hair trends I have spotted on my longgg list of fashion blogs that I absolutely love. The ombre hair and bangs (as seen on Sincerely, Jules) is the perfect combination of casual and chic. Also, big up-do's like Atlantic-Pacific are a great retro look! But my favorite has to be turban-style headbands. Sydney from The Daybook wears it perfectly with long wavy locks to create a laid-back hippie vibe.

I got this beautiful scarf from my boyfriend's mom for my birthday - I love the geometric shapes and bright color combination. I thought it would be perfect paired with flare jeans and platform heels. I was really trying to channel Jackie from That 70's Show here! (that's my best pop culture reference to the 1970's...)
Hope you're having a great Wednesday!

*The Swing: Take Two

Hello strangers! It seems like years since I posted here...last week was a whirlwind of sorority activities and piles among piles of homework. But-good news-I just finished my second fashion segment for The Swing!

For this segment I had two very talented friends help me film and edit this one. Catherine Leonard is a Media Arts and Entertainment major here and one of my very close friends. She volunteered to help with the audio when we filmed this segment. She has always been a great girl to call on when I need help filming - she has an amazing talent and is always looking for ways to practice! (P.S. you should all check out her blog catherineleonard.wordpress.com)

Derek Scully (check out his portfolio at derekscully.com) is one of the most exceptional Communications majors I know at Elon. He was so kind to help me not only create the set and film the video (for five hours!) but also sit in the editing suites with me and teach me how to create a fluid and dynamic video.
I am so thankful he was here to guide me through the filming and editing process.

Check out my latest segment at 4:55!

*For the Kids

[Necklace: Kate Spade, Shirt: Gap, Jeans: American Eagle (similar), Shoes: Macy's (similar), Bracelets: J. Crew (love this one), Watch: Guess]

Preparing for a busy weekend here at Elon...
Tomorrow night into Saturday I will be standing/dancing for 24 hours straight for Elonthon - a philanthropy event held every year to raise donations and awareness for the kids of Duke Children's Hospital.
I, along with my pledge class of Alpha Xi Delta, will not sit NOR sleep for 24 hours to support the children at Duke Children's Hospital who have suffered from various diagnoses. This is a time meant to reflect on how fortunate we all are and to show those young children we love and support them!
The acts of philanthropy continue on Sunday with a 5k hosted by Alpha Xi Delta to promote Autism Speaks. The ladies of my sorority (and students from Elon) will be running/walking a 5k to support Autism research.
I feel so blessed to have opportunities such as these to give back to those in need of a little support and a little love.
If I don't get a chance to post again, have a great weekend!

*The Swing

Look Ma, I'm famous!

I mentioned about a week ago that I was beginning a fashion segment for Elon's online newspaper The Swing. I had so much fun putting this short video together. I had three beautiful and talented young ladies as my models (my roommate, a friend on my floor, and a friend in my sorority were all happy to help!) We played dress-up in my closet as we put together these looks and had a great time filming the piece.

This is the first of many segments I will be putting together for The Swing. As of right now, it will be a bi-weekly segment to be featured on The Swing. I am so excited to start working with this new group of students! They are all incredibly supportive and helpful, which, for a freshman, is a huge relief!

(I start at 4:25!)

Hey everyone! Sorry it's taken so long for me to put up a new post...I've had the stomach flu these last couple of days and have not been able to leave my bed. Luckily, I have three of the best suite mates a girl could ask for - they've fluffed my pillows, brought me crackers, even stayed up with me to keep me company when I was at my worst. They've taken such great care of me and I am so thankful they're around!
I am super excited today because I have some visitors for my birthday weekend! My mom, Aunt Kim, and twin sis are driving from Vanderbilt to Elon today to spend Easter weekend with me!!! I can't wait to show them around campus and spend time with them. The last time I saw my sister was January 2nd so we have a LOT to catch up on!
That's all for now - I've got some serious sterilizing to do before anyone steps foot in my room!

*More to Come

[Top: Gap (a similar shade here), Skirt: J.Crew (love these here and here!), Belt: J.Crew (similar), Bag: F21, Shoes: Macy's (similar), Watch: Guess]

Hey everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts this weekend - I've been running around like a mad woman all weekend trying to get things crossed off my to-do list. Let me reflect on the weekend:
-Mac Miller was AWESOME (but it took two showers for me to feel clean after rubbing against so many sweaty people in the crowd)
-Stayed up until 4 in the morning Saturday night (nothing crazier than a night in the editing suites in the Communications Building.......)
-Shot my very first fashion segment for The Swing today! (I will post it when I finish editing!)
I hope you all had wonderful weekends and are ready to start this week off right!
