*The new girl

[Sunglasses: Ray-Ban, Scarf: Marshalls (love love love this one), Top: Madewell (similar), Bracelets: Urban Outfitters (similar), Jeans: Gap (similar), Shoes: Kohls (similar)]

Watch out people...there's a new photographer in town. And she goes by the name of 'Marti', 'Ma', 'Mom', 'HEY!', and in the occasional act of appealing for something, 'Mommyyyy'!
That's right...my dearest mother was oh so kind as to take over the role of photographer ever since my right-hand ladies (Julia and Marisa) and I separated for the summer. And boy has she taken it over like a boss! Never was I aware of my mother's knack for making me look slightly better in photos than I actually look in real life (if you saw my hair that day...you would have noticed that it had not been washed in two days...). Besides the minimal bickering ("Al, roll up your sleeves! Fix your hair! SHOULDERS BACK!") she is quite the professional at documenting my outfits.
I look forward to continuing my work with the newest addition to Team Flare! (queue pathetic theme song)

*Dressing in the dark

Though you may not believe me, I still must say that this skirt was BLACK when I put it on. Not brown, as seen above. I patted myself on the back as I put together this outfit, having the genius idea of making a faux-dress with these two pieces (similar to my pseudo red short suit here). But, alas, my deceit was revealed, as these pictures so crudely unveiled my outfit to look like an attempt at dressing in the dark. So please, dear readers, forgive me for my sloppy performance today. Maybe I will find a skirt that I can rely on a little more in the future? We'll see, we'll see.
P.S. Finding a pair of Zara sandals on sale at Marshalls for $15 = instant mood booster (and wallet deflator).

Hey, have ya missed me? In case you haven't noticed (judging by the dramatic drop in viewings over the past week I'm sure you have) I've been absent from the blogosphere for about....what is it now... 10 days? I think that's a record.
I was testing to see if I would hear a plea for more posts, but all I got were a few sarcastic "did you just stop?" and "are you taking an extended vacation from your blog?" Even though right now you are probably thinking you would never loan me a dime because of my clear untrustworthiness, I must ask you to forgive me. Please, I beg of you, with a cherry on top, to forgive me for my lackadaisical manner!
Here is my weak excuse as to why I've been M.I.A: I've been running around like a chicken with its head cut off (gruesome) all over my hometown, Long Valley, NJ. As many of you know, I am now situated in Kansas City, Missouri...so this past week and the following week I will be house hoppin' around good ole' Long Valley visiting friends. It's been bittersweet seeing everyone from my hometown...but it doesn't feel like I've left this place at all. I've got a few more posts lined up for this week so stay tuned and have faith that I will return!

I picked up this necklace from Forever21 last week while my friends from New Jersey were visiting. I love the colors and the gold pieces...it's a perfect statement piece for a neutral outfit!
Sorry for the short post but I have a growing To-Do list sitting in front of me that HAS to be completed before I fly to New Jersey tomorrow!
Have a great day!

Hanging out at home these past few days have been glorious...there's nothing like sleeping in your own bed, making breakfast in your own kitchen, and working at your own desk!
Today my mom and I did some shopping and cleaning around the house - we love getting up early and being super productive throughout the day - then lounging around after dinner. I love having a stress-free summer, but I feel like this is going to be my last one!
I hope your weekends have been going well, thanks for reading!

*Come sail away

You know when someone does something that really surprises you, in a good way, and you just want to jump up, give them a high five and say "Good freakin' job!" Well that's what I was inclined to do when Andy surprised me with a dinner and cruise on Thursday evening. Now he has always been the bring-me-flowers, take-me-out-to-dinner, pay-for-everything type of lad, but this little excursion definitely set the bar pretty high for any vacations to come.
We had a fabulous time eating a delicious dinner and watching Clearwater roll by as we ventured out into the Gulf. There was much teasing of throwing our precious electronics into the ocean (I let him hold my iPhone because I had no pockets.....bad idea on my part). It was a beautiful night and perfect weather to spend cruising through the water. My only regret is not forcing Andy to dance with me to "Brown Eyed Girl" on the dance floor with all the 60+-year-old couples....instead I sat at my seat looking like I was seizing because I was flailing my arms and bobbing my head to the music. Mock me if you want, Andy, but I had a blast dancing solo at that table!

Here are a few pictures Alisa and I took before I went to Florida - I absolutely love these heels but MAN are they difficult to walk in. My calves were aching after only 10 minutes in them. It makes me have a whole new level of respect for women like Victoria Beckham who walk with such grace and balance in these monstrous heels.
I'm still enjoying time with Andy and his grandma in Florida - we have a few more days of this wonderful relaxation then I head back home!
